Janmat Party President Chandrakant (CK) Raut has said that he has retired from parliamentary politics as per his pre-decision.

Talking to Ikantipur, he said, ‘This is not really related to the results of the current election, my entry into politics was not to seek any post or become an MP or a minister.’

Stating that earlier they used to struggle for rights without a political party, Raut said that later when they came to mainstream politics, no one took the post, so they were forced to become the party president. ‘I had to fight against my will in the 2079 elections too.’ However, I do not regret that decision, if I had not fought, a national party would have been formed,’ he said, ‘This time too, instead of not fighting, I had to fight under compulsion.’ However, I have no regrets about the defeat, if I had not fought, I would have been to blame for the collapse of the party.'

He said that his personal passion is to fight for rights. 'I have taken this decision to focus primarily on the struggle,' he said, 'I will fight for the people from the streets and will never back down from it. I want to reassure the common people who are always fighting for their rights.'

Saying that he will continue to be the chairman before the general convention, Chairman Raut said that he will continue to play a role according to the results of the general convention. 'But, as long as the need exists, I will not let the demands of the party and the people remain unfulfilled. I will be with the people and the workers as long as the need exists,' he said, 'If no one is bothered about that, don't worry at all about whether we are left behind. I have already sacrificed my life for these people.' I will always be with the people, workers and the party.'

In the 2079 BS House of Representatives election, Saptari-2 CK Raut won with a huge margin. He defeated his nearest rival, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, by a margin of 18,063 votes. Raut received 35,042 votes while Yadav received only 16,979 votes.

In the House of Representatives election held on 21 Falgun, Raut had to suffer a humiliating defeat. Raut, who had become a candidate from the same constituency, came in third place. There, Ramji Yadav of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh defeated his nearest competitor Umesh Kumar Yadav of the JSP. While Ramji received 28,404 votes, Raut, who was confined to third place, only got 9,880 votes.

Raut, who holds a PhD from Cambridge University in the UK, returned to Nepal in 2068 BS. Raut, who has been running the Independent Madhesh campaign in the Terai Madhesh in the name of the Independent Madhesh Alliance, entered peaceful politics on Falgun 24, 2075 BS by reaching an 11-point agreement with the government.

After entering peaceful politics, he formed the 'Janmat Party'.
