Ravindra Patel of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has won the House of Representatives election from Rautahat Constituency No. 3. Patel won by securing 27,318 votes.
His nearest rival, Govinda Chaudhary of JSP, got 11,954 votes.
Prabhu Sah, the president of the Aam Janata Party, who has been winning consistently in this constituency, came in third. Sah got 8,890 votes. Kundan Kushwaha of CPN-UML got 6,605 votes.
41 candidates from various parties, including independents, were in the fray in this constituency. Patel, who emerged from student life, was a leader of the Nepali Communist Party. He had joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) just before the elections.
