Rana Magar, who filed her candidacy from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), defeated Ghimire by a margin of 48,742 votes. Rana Magar received 60,110 votes while Ghimire received 11,368 votes. Both were the Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the dissolved House of Representatives. Ghimire was an elected MP from the same constituency in the 2079 elections, while Rana Magar was a proportional MP from the RSSS.
