Congress President Gagan Thapa, who had filed his candidacy from Sarlahi constituency number 4, has been defeated by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh candidate Amresh Kumar Singh.

Singh won by getting 35,688 votes. Thapa got 22,831 votes. UML candidate Amnish Kumar Yadav came in third with 9,343 votes.

Thapa, who had won from Kathmandu-4 in the previous election, had gone to Sarlahi to register his candidacy this time. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh candidate Pukar Bam has won in Kathmandu-4 this time.
