Shiva Yadav is a name that keeps coming up in the ongoing protests in Kathmandu. Be it the movement of the meter-bill victims of Madhesh, the sit-in for justice of sugarcane farmers, or the anti-corruption demonstration, there was no protest without him.

He used to participate in the protests or struggle programs in Kathmandu and give speeches. Standing on the streets among the protesters, he would fire sharp questions at the government. However, his voice, which was previously heard on the streets of Maitighar and Kathmandu, will now be heard in the House.

His role as a protester questioning the government has now changed. He has now reached the leadership position where he has to answer. Namely, he has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the National Independent Party in Siraha Constituency No. 2.

Yadav received 39,561 votes. His closest rival in this constituency, Ram Chandra Yadav, who is also the Siraha District President of the Nepali Congress, was limited to 12,814 votes. CPN-UML candidate Naveen Kumar Yadav came third with 6,713 votes.

Born on 20 Asoj 20, 2052 in a simple family in Vidyanagar, Sukhipur Municipality-2, 30-year-old Shiva passed the secondary level and went to Kathmandu a decade ago to study higher education. He is currently studying for a master's degree in political science. After moving to Kathmandu, he opened a hostel there to earn a living. His hostel is still there.

He started getting involved in various political and social campaigns from Kathmandu. He has been arrested and released 12 times during various movements in Kathmandu. He has also worked as the chairman of the Madhesh Library and Research Center, run by enlightened youth of Madhesh in Kathmandu with the aim of restructuring Madhesh politics.

Earlier, Shiva had contested the election as an independent candidate from the same constituency in the 2079 general election. However, at that time, he got only 799 votes. Taking the election results of that time as a lesson, he continued his political activities.

He was also at the forefront of the Genji movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, which brought him further into the limelight. He is currently a central member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He has two children. As an MP, he said that his role will be to further strengthen federalism by institutionalizing the Madhesh issue.

‘As an MP, I will mainly play a role in further strengthening the federal democratic republic, federalism, inclusiveness, etc. My main goal is to institutionalize whatever achievements have been made and work to formulate policies and rules that guarantee good governance to the people,’ he said. ‘I was an agitator until yesterday, now that I have reached the place of work, I will have to show it.’
