The results of the House of Representatives elections in Kathmandu have clearly shown the influence of the National Independent Party (RIP). In some constituencies in the capital, RIP candidates have won by such a margin that even when the votes of the three closest competitors are added together, their votes could not be equaled.

The largest margin of victory was seen in Kathmandu-9. RIP Dol Prasad Aryal was elected from that constituency with 35,093 votes. But his closest competitors, the Nepali Congress candidate, received 5,460 votes, the CPN-UML candidate received 4,580 votes, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate received 1,457 votes. Adding up the votes of all three, it only reaches 11,497. That is, Aryal alone received 23,596 more votes than the combined votes of the three competitors.

RIP Pradeep Bista has also won in Kathmandu-10 with a huge margin. He received 37,469 votes. His closest competitor, the Congress candidate, got 8,100 votes, the UML candidate got 4,864 votes, and the NCP candidate got 2,648 votes. Adding up the votes of all three, it comes to only 15,612. Thus, Bista alone has received 21,857 more votes than their combined votes.

In Kathmandu-5, in the competition between 'heavyweight' leaders, Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Sasmit Pokharel won by an unexpectedly large margin. He received 30,737 votes. His competitor, Nepali Congress General Secretary Pradeep Poudel, got 9,159 votes, while UML former senior vice-chairman Ishwor Pokharel got 4,601 votes. Similarly, Kamal Thapa of the RPP received 1,922 votes. Adding up the votes of all three, it comes to only 15,682. Pokharel received 15,055 more votes than their combined votes.

In Kathmandu-7, too, Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Shishir Khanal won with a clear margin. He has received 27,916 votes. His rival Congress candidate has received 6,751 votes, UML candidate has received 4,268 votes and RPP candidate has received 1,270 votes. Adding the votes of these three, it is only 12,226. Thus, Khanal has received 15,690 more votes than their combined votes.

In Kathmandu-4, Pukar Bam of RPP has been elected with 29,142 votes. His rival Congress candidate has received 8,824 votes, UML candidate has received 5,733 votes and RPP candidate has received 2,025 votes. Adding the votes of these three, it is 16,582. Bam has received 12,560 more votes than their combined votes.

Similarly, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of RPP has been elected with 24,592 votes from Kathmandu-8. His rival NCP candidate has received 3,217 votes, Congress candidate has received 2,835 votes and UML candidate has received 1,909 votes. Adding up the votes of all three of them, it comes to only 7,961. Thus, Shrestha has garnered 16,631 more votes than their combined votes.
