In Rautahat-1, Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary of the National Independent Party has defeated former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. Chaudhary of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party got 28,946 votes, while the Nepali Congress got 7,669 votes.
Ajay Kumar Gupta of the UML got 10,693 votes. The Nepali Congress got 8,574 votes.
