The two general secretaries, Pradeep Poudel and Gururaj Ghimire, who entered the election fray with the slogan ‘Congress has changed, we are changing the country’, have been defeated. 

Among these young leaders who became general secretaries in the special general convention, Poudel from Kathmandu-5 and Ghimire from Morang-4 were defeated by a large margin. 

General Secretary Ghimire was defeated by Santosh Rajbanshi of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh by a margin of 28,150 votes. While Rajbanshi got 40,833 votes, Ghimire got only 12,818 votes. 

Ghimire is also the former president of the Nepali Sangh. He was elected general secretary at the special general convention held at Bhrikuti Mandap on 27-30 Poush. Ghimire, who led the issue of changing the party’s policy and leadership before the election, was defeated for the first time in the House of Representatives election. He had been defeated once in the provincial election before that. 

Another general secretary, Poudel, a resident of Tanahun, has been defeated this time from Kathmandu-5, where he was elected in the 2079 elections. Poudel, who is also a former health minister, was also defeated by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate. He was defeated by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Sasmit Pokharel by a margin of 29,578 votes.

Pokharel got 30,737 votes while Poudel got 9,159 votes. He was defeated for the post of general secretary in the party's 14th general convention. However, he, who is in favor of party change, was elected as the special general convention general secretary.

Another Congress leader, Shekhar Koirala, has also been defeated by a large margin this time. Koirala was defeated by Rubina Acharya of the RSS from Morang-6 with a margin of 42,663 votes. Acharya got 55,513 votes while Koira got 12,850 votes.

Koirala is the leader of the opposition in the special general convention. He was previously elected from the same constituency.

Another former Congress office bearer, Bimalendra Nidhi, has been defeated by Manish Jha of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from Dhanusha-4.

Jha defeated him by a margin of 27,150 votes. Jha got 43,142 votes while Nidhi got 15,992 votes.
