Congress has returned to Achham-1 after 26 years. Bharat Kumar Swar of Congress has won, destroying the stronghold of former UML and current NCP leader Bhim Rawal. According to the results released on Saturday afternoon, Swar defeated Rawal by a margin of 526 votes.
Swar got 10,759 votes. His nearest competitor, Rawal of NCP, got 10,233 votes. With the victory of Swar, a veteran leader of the district, the Congress has returned to the House of Representatives after 26 years in Achham-1.
Swar's political journey began during his student days. He has been an active leader in expanding the organization of the Congress and in the democratic movement for a long time. Congress leaders say that he has played an important role at various times in strengthening the Congress organization in Achham. He is the former district president of the party. He is known as a leader who builds organizations within the party, mobilizes workers, and raises local issues.
He was also a candidate from Achham-1 in the 2074 House of Representatives election. At that time, he was defeated by the then UML leader Rawal. This time, Swar has started his parliamentary journey by defeating his old rival Rawal.
After winning, Swar has said that his priority will be to improve the living standards of the Achhami people and bring major projects that have been stalled for years to life.
