A candidate of the National Independent Party (NISP), she defeated Phool Kumar Lalwani of the Nepali Congress by a margin of 30,443 votes. Rajkumar Yadav of the JSP came third. He received 8,747 votes. Shiva Kumar Mandal of the NCP came fourth with 8,616 votes and Manoj Kumar Agrawal of the UML came fifth with 6,945 votes.
