After the election results of Bhaktapur-2, CPN (UML) candidate Mahesh Basnet has said that he will accept the people's decision with respect.
In a statement issued after the election, Basnet said that even if the results are not in his favor this time, he will respect it with the belief that the people's decision is paramount in democracy.
He congratulated the winner of the election, National Independent Party candidate Rajiv Khatri, and wished him a successful term.
Basnet expressed gratitude to all the voters who voted for the sun symbol and believed in him, as well as the party's leaders, workers and supporters who worked day and night in the election campaign.
Stating that winning and losing is a natural process in politics, he said that he will never lose his commitment to serving the people. Stating that his role will now be that of a constructive opposition, he said that he will continue to raise his voice from outside the House for education, health, employment, corruption-free good governance and building a prosperous society.
Basnet has expressed his commitment to dedicate the rest of his life to serving the people, their welfare and building a prosperous Bhaktapur.
