As the preliminary results of the election held on Thursday came in, the candidate of the National Independent Party has taken the lead in both the constituencies of Baglung. The candidates of the Congress and the UML are trailing.
As of Friday evening, in Baglung-1, Sushil Khadka of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party has received 2,338 votes, while his nearest rival Hira Bahadur KC of the UML has received 1,099 votes and Bhim Shreesh of the Congress has received 1,087 votes. The Rashtriya Janamorcha has received only 118 votes in this constituency, which is considered its stronghold.
In constituency number 2, Som Sharma of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party has received 4,134 votes. His rival Tekraj Poudel of the Congress has received 3,623 votes. While Gyamnath Gaire of the NCP has received 3,314 votes, Manju Sharma of the UML has received 2,367 votes. Counting of votes is underway at the District Coordination Committee in the headquarters of Region No. 1 and in Burtiwang, 90 km west of Region No. 2.
