Fifteen people, including security personnel and employees deployed for the election, have died in various districts. Three in Baitadi, two in Bara, and one each in Rupandehi, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Nawalparasi, Makawanpur and Kanchanpur, the Police Headquarters has stated. One each in Ramechhap and Sarlahi has died. One in Mustang and one in Ramechhap. 

On February 18, the police have stated that polling officer Dor Prasad Ghimire and police assistant inspector Parashuram Yadav died in Ramechhap. They died in a vehicle accident while transporting election materials to Shitaldevi Secondary School Sirubari and ward office building Sanghutar in Ramechhap Municipality. The deceased Ghimire was a teacher of Nimavi Secondary School, Class II. Yadav of Rupani Rural Municipality-1 in Saptari was working at the District Police Office, Ramechhap.

A vehicle carrying ballot papers, ballot boxes and other election materials, bearing the number Na 7 Kha 6768, lost control while reversing on the road and fell about 100 meters off the road. Seven people were injured in the accident. The injured were brought to Kathmandu for treatment by a Nepal Army helicopter. After the election staff met with an accident, other staff and election materials were sent to both polling stations, said Narayan Lamichhane, Election Officer of the District Election Office, Ramechhap.

Assistant Chief District Officer Hom Prasad Ghimire informed that a polling officer also died in Sarlahi. Raghunath Mahato died after collapsing at a polling station on 19 Falgun. Mahato was deployed at the Jingdawa polling station of the Basic School in Parsa Rural Municipality-4, Jingdawa, Sarlahi-2. The doctor declared Mahato dead after taking him to Malangwa Hospital for treatment. The hospital stated that he died of a heart attack.

An election policeman died in Kanchanpur on 19 Falgun. The District Police Office has reported that 35-year-old Mansingh Rana, an election policeman posted in Punarbas Municipality, has died. According to District Police Office spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur Shahi, Rana was posted at the Jeevan Shakti Basic Polling Station in Sitabasti, Punarbas Municipality-9. He fainted while cooking at night and died during treatment at Nisargadhi-based Nisargadhi Hospital. Spokesperson Shahi said that Rana was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Similarly, Assistant Chief District Officer Ek Narayan Bhandari said that an employee posted in Mustang has died. He informed that Sunil Ghatane, an employee of the Customs Office Korola Naka, has died. Ghatane was posted in the Janapriya Basic School Jhong of Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality-2 for the House of Representatives election. He died when his motorcycle (Ga 7 Pa 1486) crashed in Khanti, Thasang Rural Municipality-2 on February 18.

An election policeman died in a vehicle accident in Makawanpur on February 18. Election police officer Pawan Sah, who was working at the Area Police Office Pashupatinagar, died. He was hit by a pickup truck near Karra Bridge in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-8 on February 21. According to Pushkar Bogati, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Makawanpur, Sah, who was a resident of Bijaypur Municipality-7, Rautahat, died during treatment at the Old Medical College, Chitwan.

Three election police officers have died in Baitadi in the past month. On February 21, Prakash Chand, 32, of Dasharath Chand Municipality-4, died after falling from a cliff in Baitadi. Election police officer Chand fell from a cliff at a place called Kharkate Salleri while returning home after completing training at the Sundarkhali Maidan.

Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, 38, of Melauli Municipality-6, died on February 22. He was found unconscious at home around 10:30 pm. He had suddenly fainted and lost consciousness at home after returning home after finishing his duty. Although he was taken to the hospital for treatment, the doctors declared him dead. Suraj Singh, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Baitadi, said that the deceased Bhatta was posted in the election police at the Area Police Office, Melauli.

On February 22, 38-year-old election policeman Mahadev Wad, a resident of Babet, Dasharathchand Municipality-4, also died. Mahadev, who was found unconscious while going home for food, was declared dead by the doctors when he was taken to the district hospital for treatment. An election policeman died in a motorcycle accident in Rupandehi. Police have reported that Baburam Yadav, 25, of Gonhiya, Siddharthanagar Municipality-9, Rupandehi, died on February 21. The motorcycle Yadav was riding crashed into a divider on the roadside in Kotihawa on the Butwal-Bhairahawa road section. He had also undergone two days of training after learning about the appointment of temporary police. 

According to the police, one female and one male election police officer have died in Bara. Police data also shows that one election police officer each has died in Dhanusha and Nawalparasi. The election police officers were recruited on temporary service for 40 days for election security.
