About 900,000 voters have been added to the House of Representatives election to be held on Thursday. According to the final voter list published by the Election Commission, more than 10,000 voters have been added to 13 constituencies. The constituencies that have added more than 10,000 votes this time compared to the 2079 House of Representatives election are seven constituencies in Madhesh Province, followed by three, two and one constituency in Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini respectively. The 9 districts in these 13 constituencies are all in Terai-Madhesh. Two constituencies each in Jhapa (1 and 2), Dhanusha (3 and 4) and Chitwan (2 and 3) are included in this list.
The maximum number of 13.5 thousand voters have been added to Jhapa-2. Where outgoing Speaker Devraj Ghimire from UML, former MP Sarita Prasai from Congress, Constituent Assembly member Dharmashila Chapagain from NCP and outgoing Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and advocate Bhadra Prasad Nepal from RPP are candidates. In the 2079 election, out of 134,000 voters in Jhapa-2, UML's Ghimire, who won with 28,500 votes, defeated independent candidate Nepal by a margin of about 2,200 votes. This time, there are 147,000 voters in this constituency.
Similarly, the constituency with the second highest number of voters is Chitwan-2. Where about 13,000 voters have been added this time compared to the previous election. This time, in this constituency, RSVP President Ravi Lamichhane, Meena Kumari Kharel of the Nepali Congress, Asmin Ghimire of the Nepali Congress, and Pratap Gurung of the Nepali Congress are competing. In 2079, Lamichhane won by getting 49,000 more votes out of 124,000 voters. He defeated Congress' Umesh Shrestha by a margin of 34,000 votes. Lamichhane also won the by-election held after the Supreme Court removed Lamichhane from office in the citizenship dispute. Now, the number of voters here has reached 137,000.
Similarly, about 12,000 voters have been added in Dhanusha-3. There were 114,000 voters in the previous election, but there are now about 126,000. In 2079, UML's Juli Kumari Mahato, who won with 33,000 votes, defeated LOSPA's Anil Kumar Jha by a margin of about 10,000 votes.
Currently, UML's Mahato, along with Congress's Bimalendra Nidhi, NCP's Ramlalit Mandal, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)'s Manish Jha are in the fray from that constituency. Both Nidhi and Jha were previously on the proportional list.
The only constituency in Lumbini Province where more than 10,000 voters have been added is Banke-2. RPP's Dhawal Shamsher Jabra was elected from Banke-2 in the previous election with 29,500 votes. His nearest rival, JSP's Istiak Rai, was 5,000 votes behind. At that time, Banke-2 had 97,000 voters. Now, the number of voters has increased to 108,000. Outgoing MP Jabra is not in the race for the election, while former JSP candidate Rai is a candidate from UML. Sudhanshu Koirala is a candidate from Congress, Dipendra Bista from NCP, and Vivek Kumar Shrestha is a candidate from Raswa.
