Bishnu Prasad Khanal of the Congress, Pitambar Bhusal of the UML and Ram Bahadur Chauhan of the NCP are new faces in the district. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has re-nominated Hari Prasad Bhusal, who had been a candidate for the Provincial Assembly 1 (1) in the 2074 election from the Bibeksheel Sajha Party and had contested for the House of Representatives on behalf of the RSS in 2079.
What you should know
From 2048 BS to 079 BS, the Congress, UML, Maoists and the National Janamorcha had been winning in turns. In the elections to be held on Falgun 21, the new party, the National Independent Party, has become a challenge to the old parties. The Congress and the Communists are in the race to restore and protect their legacy, while the Rashtriya Swatantra Party is hoping to win with the latest wave of votes.
Currently, 15 candidates, including 12 parties and three independents, are running to woo voters in every village. However, the competition includes Bishnu Prasad Khanal of the Congress, Pitambar Bhusal of the UML, Ram Bahadur Chauhan of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and Hari Prasad Bhusal of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party.
Except for Hari Prasad, all three candidates are from Malarani Rural Municipality. After all three have become candidates from different parties, the voters of Malarani are confused about who to vote for. Many have discussed dividing the votes among three people. Hari Prasad, 37, was a candidate for the House of Representatives from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 2079. He was a candidate for the Provincial Assembly 1 (1) from the Bibeksheel Sajha Party in the 2074 election. Chauhan, Khanal and Pitambar are new faces. In the context of the
election, it was said in Arghakhanchi - where Top Bahadur is, there is victory. This time, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi is not a candidate. He has been imprisoned in the Dillibazaar prison in Kathmandu for three years in the Bhutanese refugee case. After winning four consecutive elections and repeatedly serving as a minister and deputy prime minister, he was elected from the then Maoists in 2064, 2070 and 2074. He was elected from the UML in 2079. Voters are interested in how the election without Top Bahadur will be in the House of Representatives election to be held on Falgun 21.
The old parties have considered the proportional vote results of 2079 as the basis for the current victory. At that time, UML had 37,450 votes, Congress 26,865 votes, RSP 8,951 votes, Maoists 7,342 votes, Rastriya Janamorcha 5,327 votes and CPN-S 1,067 votes. RSP candidate Hari had directly received 3,200 votes. RSP leader Sita Purajuli claims that she will win the election with a huge margin this time as the new wave has attracted young voters in Arghakhanchi and they have joined the organization by becoming members.
Chauhan, Bhusal and Khanal are strong candidates who have been working in the party politics and social sector in the district since their student days. The allegations against UML after the Gen-G movement, dissatisfaction within the party and the fact that young and female cadres are trying to turn to the RSP have also become a challenge for Pitamber Bhusal. Although UML has competed with the Congress in the past, the wave of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has created confusion. Despite this, there are also grounds for opening the door to parliament for Pitambar. The first basis is the first public opinion in the district in the last election, the second, the government led by his party in Lumbini Province, and the third is the strong performance in six local levels. Pitambar seems confident, considering his personal image as a basis for victory.
Khanal has become a candidate for the House of Representatives for the first time after the new leadership came to the Congress center from the special general convention. Khanal got the ticket after Pushpa Bhusal Gautam, who became the vice president from the second special general convention, left. Khanal, who has been active in politics since 2054 BS after leaving a permanent government job, also has grounds for winning the election.
The enthusiasm within the Congress after Gagan Thapa came under the leadership, the closeness with the workers and voters, the attack on the UML after the Gen-G movement, the joining of UML workers in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the weak base of the CPN (Maoist), the unity between leaders and village workers in the district, and his personal image are considered strong bases for Khanal to win. Despite these grounds for his victory, the Congress candidate's continuous defeat in the past elections, his lack of a strong presence at the local level, some local leaders and activists including Congress Sandhikharka President Baburam Bhusal leaving the party and joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the strong UML organization are also facing challenges in his victory.
NCP candidate Chauhan, who has been associated with various organizations along with politics, faces challenges in his victory as he is the fourth organization in the district according to the wave of Congress, UML and RSSW and the previous election results. However, Chauhan is hopeful that he can win due to the negative message towards Congress and UML in the Gen-G movement and his personal image. Chauhan is hopeful that the RSSW will cut many of the votes of Congress and UML and that the result will go in his favor through popular votes.
In 2079 without organization, Hari Prasad of RSSW got 3,200 direct votes and 8,951 proportional votes. Currently, the party organization structure has been formed in 6 municipalities and 61 wards. Hari Prasad is confident of winning due to the recent public outcry towards the RSVP and his personal image. The RSVP has considered issues such as village-level workers of the Congress, UML and NCP, those employed abroad asking their families to vote by bell, and the attraction of young people to new things as the basis for its victory.
