According to the Statistics Coordination Office, Dhanusha, out of the 17 main roads in Mahottari, only 6 highways - Mahendra Highway, Dhalkebar-Bhitthamod, Bardibas-Sindhuli, Bardibas-Jaleshwar, Jaleshwar-Matihani and Jaleshwar-Samsi-Gaushala - have been blacktopped. The remaining 11 highways are gravel/unpaved.
