In the last election, Nembang got 32,135 votes. While Angdembe got 32,089 votes.
In the 2064 Constituent Assembly election, Purna Kumar Serma of the Nepali Congress was elected, defeating Ganesh Kumar Kambang of the UML by a narrow margin of 7 votes. At that time, Kambang got 12,913 votes, while Serma got 12,920 votes. Since various parties directly formed alliances and coordination in both elections, it is not possible to estimate the actual number of votes of which party.
However, based on the votes received by various parties in the proportional representation in 2079, it can be easily determined what was the actual size of the competing parties at that time. In 2079, the UML got 26,266 votes in the proportional representation. The Congress had secured 19,847 votes. The then Maoist Center had secured 10,662 votes, the CPN-S had secured 2,929 votes, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party had secured 3,370 votes, the Rastriya Swatantra Party had secured 1,942 votes, and the Janata Samajwadi Party had secured 1,709 votes. At that time, there was an alliance between the Maoist Center, the CPN-S, and the Congress. The UML also had the support of small parties. There is no alliance this time. 15 candidates from 15 parties, including the Nepali Communist Party, the UML, and the Congress, are in the election race. The Congress, the UML, and the CPN are trying to win the election based on the results of the proportional representation in the last election. In 2079, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) had secured only 425 votes directly from here. This time, the RSWP has intensified its campaign, taking advantage of the nationwide atmosphere.
Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Parivartan Party are also campaigning with a strategy to win the election. Shram Sanskriti and Rastriya Parivartan Party, which are contesting the election for the first time along with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which received few votes in the last election, are trying to take the shape of a big party in the district through the Falgun 21 election. This has increased pressure on the Congress, UML and NCP.
After becoming the base area of the old parties, some cadres from those parties have joined the new party this time. UML candidate Aindra Sundar Nembang says that his victory is certain based on the party's strong organization, unity of cadres and the results of the 2079 election. He said that he is competing with the Congress.
Congress candidate Narendra Kumar Kerung says that he will win with the sympathy votes he will receive due to his continuous contribution through education, politics and social service since 2047 BS, as well as the defeat he suffered in the 2070 Constituent Assembly and 2074 Provincial Assembly elections.
He has been teaching and lecturing for a long time and has previously served as the district president of the Nepali Congress for two terms. He claims that the changing attitude of the citizens towards the party after the special general convention and the hard work of the Nepali Congress workers up to the ward level will also be the basis for victory.
NCP candidate Harka Bahadur Nembang (Mixo) says that the organizational structure has become stronger after the unity between the then Maoist Center and the Nepali Congress. He is on a strategy to win by attracting votes from the organization and other parties. He is participating in the parliamentary front for the first time, having fought in the formation of the Maoist organization since the armed conflict. He said that his victory is certain because he has continuously worked for the people even while being in the party organization. There are 143,408 voters in the district.
