Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader and former minister Barshaman Pun has accused the newly formed parties of lacking clear ideological views. He also said that the political stream is not clear in the new parties.

Pointing to the National Independent Party led by Ravi Lamichhane, he claimed that 'populist politics' would not be tolerated. He urged that such politics should not be practiced and should not be practiced. 'Does the term 'new' mean that we are anti-federalist, right-wing, want monopoly and believe in populism?' At a press conference held in Liwang on Thursday, Pun asked, 'Is it a new party in terms of ideas and trends, how is it new? I want to debate. Let's cooperate and compete, but before that, let's debate from the ideological trend.'

He said that the NCP had to fight with the old parties, the Congress and the UML, on one hand, and with the so-called new parties on the other. He accused the so-called new parties of opposing federalism and doing injustice to the poor.

'When they are in Kathmandu, they oppose federalism, but when they reach Janakpur, they say they need federalism. Use of black money and vehicles earned from black business or tax evasion? And how is good governance achieved?'  He asked. He claims that only the communists in Nepal will protect nationalism and independence.

He commented that some candidates have engaged in some uncomfortable activities in Rolpa, but apart from that, there is a good environment. He also said that there is good relations between all the candidates. Reminding that the forces including them have brought three-tier federalism and are currently promoting it, he said, 'Public opinion must be united to protect national independence from the current election.' He said that there has been an increase in concern for that.

He said that the issue of national independence has become complicated now and the issue of good governance is important. Leader Pun said that his party raised the issue of good governance as a main issue during the election. 'Prosperity and good governance are the first priority. "Even when we were in the opposition, the main issue was good governance," he said.

He said that economic prosperity, development of natural resources and tourism were the main agendas to strengthen the state system and that this would lead to the prosperity of the country.
