Congress President Gagan Thapa has said that he does not believe in extremism. He said that he believes in moving forward by uniting everyone. He also raised the question of whether there has come a situation where people should be afraid to speak like when the Maoists were in power.

He said that there is a right to both support and criticize, and the situation of being afraid to speak should end. Speaking at the manifesto release program, Thapa said this. 

President Thapa also narrated an incident where some friends who recently joined the party were abused on social media. He said, 'One person who recently joined the party said that he received 900 rip comments on social media.'

Stating that both support and opposition are the rights of citizens, he said, 'It is the right to ask questions. It is important whether you are agile and accurate when asking questions.'
