There is a tendency to deny the events of Bhadra 23-24 and profit from them: Chairman Thapa

What you should know

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said that there is a trend in Nepali politics to reject the Gen-G protests that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24 and to benefit from them.

President Thapa said that the Congress rejects both the tendency to deny the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 as nothing and to try to take advantage of them.

Addressing the election manifesto and question-and-answer program in Kathmandu on Thursday, President Thapa expressed the party's views on the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24. 'Bhadra 23 and 24 were two turbulent days.  Many young people were killed.  I want to remember those young people. I express my heartfelt condolences to those young people.

'We see two approaches regarding the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24.  One, the approach of denial, i.e. nothing happened or whatever was right at that time, those incidents were not necessary at that time.  The young people who came on the streets did not need to come.  Or everything was right.  We see an approach of rejecting it,' Thapa said, 'There is another approach, that is the approach of eating dividends. This is the time when the youth came to the streets, expressed their anger and baked the bread of their political interests, I should take advantage of it, I should take advantage of it, this is the tendency of those who eat dividends. The Congress rejects both these tendencies. We should not take dividends, we should not reject them.'

Thapa said that the state made a mistake on Bhadra 23. 'We must accept that the state made a mistake on Bhadra 23. We were also involved in it. We must demand the capacity of the entire country for that. We apologize to those parents who have lost their young children,' Thapa said.

Thapa also said that there was a huge destruction on Bhadra 24. He said that it should be investigated and the guilty should be punished. He said that the party is of the opinion that even if the Congress leader is found guilty, action should be taken. He said that the party will listen to and understand the voices of the youth.
