Dinesh Humagain, the Bagmati Province Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP), has resigned from the party. He formally announced his resignation while addressing the party's general secretary on Thursday.
He was also an aspirant for the House of Representatives election this time. But after not getting a ticket, Humagain, dissatisfied with not getting a ticket, left the party two weeks before the election.
Along with Humagain, party district president Pravin Dhakal and another leader Tara Bahadur Kunwar were in the running for the candidate. There was strong dissatisfaction in the RSVP Kavre after Badan Bhandari got the ticket at the last moment.
Humagain had also been expressing his dissatisfaction through social media, saying that the tickets were sold for money. In his resignation letter, he also mentioned that those who were trying to form a party were not made candidates, and that workers who have been dedicated to the party for years were being sidelined and people from other parties were given priority.
He said, 'In particular, those who were working in mobile shops, singing songs, and social activists, who were acting as social activists, have been made candidates based on self-interest.'
Humagain has also said that internal democracy in the party has become weak, that party president Rabi Lamichhane is involved in the cooperative case, and that the citizenship issue of Balendra Shah, who was made the prime minister's candidate, has come to light, and that good governance cannot be expected from a party that cannot correct its own internal distortions. Humagain also said that the party has not been able to hold regular general conventions and that the feelings of the general cadres have not been respected.
Humagain, who was the candidate from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the 2079 House of Representatives elections in Kavre's constituency number 2, received 10,573 votes at that time.
