The National Independent Party (NISP) has come out in favor of dual citizenship. The party's manifesto for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, released on Thursday from Surkhet, the capital of Karnali, states that it will stand in favor of dual citizenship.

Point number 99 of the RSNP's manifesto states, 'The RSNP views the Nepalis living abroad as the main pillar of the country's economic transformation. In addition to providing voting rights to Nepalis living abroad, we will also respect the emotional bond of 'once a Nepali, always a Nepali' of NRNs, and, with some specific exceptions, stand in favor of dual citizenship in principle and immediately end the administrative hassles in property rights.'

The RSNP has also promised to create a comfortable environment for NRNs to invest in Nepal. 'We will make legal provisions to provide special legal protection for NRNs to invest in major infrastructure and innovation in Nepal, facilitate 'dollar accounts', and facilitate easy repatriation of returns.' We will establish a 'national knowledge 'bank' that will directly connect high-level knowledge, skills and technology in the diaspora with education, health and industry in the country,' the RSVP's pledge states, 'We will create an environment and mechanism for Nepalis living in any corner of the world to work as 'volunteer ambassadors' to promote Nepal's tourism, culture and investment. Through diaspora, the Nepali language, art and original identity will be spread vibrantly in major cities of the world, which will strengthen Nepal's 'soft power.'

The pledge was made public by leaders including RSVP President Ravi Lamichhane, senior leader Balendra Shah, vice-presidents DP Aryal and Swarnim Wagle. A committee was formed under the leadership of Vice-President Wagle to write the RSVP's pledge.
