”The candidate selection process appears to have been conducted in violation of the statute, standards, and internal democracy. In particular, those who were working in mobile shops, singing songs, and social activists until two or four days ago, have been made candidates based on self-interest.”

Dinesh Humagain, the deputy chairman of the Bagmati Province Committee of the National Independent Party, has resigned from the party, raising questions about the party's leadership and candidate selection.
Humagain says that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which had raised the slogan of 'elect those who know' in the 2079 elections has not been able to do so now. 'The party initially said that it would elect those who know in the 2079 elections.' But in practice, those who know, limited people, those who flatter, please, and go around (Ganesh-like) characters have been given priority both directly and proportionally,' his resignation letter reads.
Humagain has said that even while expanding the party's central structure, criteria and processes were not adopted and it was not transparent. He has also raised questions about the party's membership and financial management. 'Although membership fees and candidate application fees (both proportional and direct) are collected extensively, a transparent account of them has not been made public,' he wrote in his resignation letter. 'It is a serious issue that the amount that was said to be distributed at the provincial and municipal levels has not been made clear.'
He also said that the party's operation violated the constitution and ended internal democracy, and that the voices of the provincial and lower committees were ignored.
Humagain wrote that moral questions have been raised about the party leadership. 'Various disputes related to the party leadership and issues that are in judicial process have raised serious questions about the moral basis of the organization,' he wrote, 'Cooperative cases related to party president Ravi Lamichhane are currently in judicial process.'
Humagain was a candidate for the House of Representatives from Kavre constituency number 2 from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the 2079 elections. He came third in that election with 10,573 votes. This time, however, he did not get a ticket.
