Mamta Sharma, the founding president of Madhesh Province of the National Independent Party, has joined the Congress. She had resigned from the general membership of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party only on Wednesday.

Sharma joined the party at the pledge meeting organized by the Congress in Janakpur on Wednesday. Sharma and others were inducted into the party by Congress President Gagan Thapa, Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma, Pushpa Bhusal and other leaders.

Sharma said that despite continuous work in the party, there was no justice. Sharma said that the party, which was formed only a few years ago, has become like the old Congress. She said, 'The Nepali Congress, which carried an 80-year legacy, has now become the new party, and the newly born party has become the old Nepali Congress.'

Sharma said that the party, which had a slogan of choosing those who know and saying that it is the turn of the youth and the new, has not been seen in practice. 'It was a job of selecting those who are tainted, selecting those who are involved in various issues, picking up those who have been thrown away by the society, that is why I left the party,' Sharma said.

Sharma said that she joined the party because Congress President Gagan Thapa changed the party and was serious about federalism and Madhesh issues.
