Competitors who previously belonged to the same 'front'

What you should know

This time, former companions have entered the electoral competition in the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21. People who had joined the then CPN-Maoist and had traveled together on a political journey have become competitors from different parties.

Naresh Bhandari, Manarishi Dhital, Birkha Bahadur Shahi and Bhakta Bahadur Rawal, who have become candidates from different parties in the upcoming elections, were previously affiliated with the then CPN-Maoist. Bhandari is contesting as an independent candidate from the Nepal Communist Party, Dhital from the Progressive Democratic Party, Shahi from the CPN-Maoist and Bhakta Bahadur Rawal. All four were on the same front during the then Maoist armed war.

The election atmosphere in the district has become interesting as they were once united and are now contesting the elections with different parties and symbols. They have now seen a sharp polarization among them, who lived an 'underground' life with the same political goal during the armed war in the country. All four are currently busy seeking votes in the district.

Bhandari has claimed to win the election based on his political experience during the armed war and the development work he has done. He said that he has prioritized the agenda of development and good governance. Dhital is expressing his commitment to complete the unfinished work of change and urging people to see themselves as an alternative force. He is going door to door with a commitment to work on policy formulation and development.

He is busy seeking royal votes from the CPN-Maoist, claiming to be a representative of the real Maoist ideology. He is seen trying to win the hearts of the families of the martyrs, injured and missing persons of the then armed war. He is saying that the ideals, sacrifices and sacrifices of the armed rebellion should be institutionalized and that there is a need for a campaign to strengthen the organization again through people-oriented programs while preserving past achievements.

Independent candidate Rawal is not affiliated with any party despite having a background in armed rebellion. He is promising to rise above party interests and raise issues of development and good governance. He said that agriculture, development, construction and employment are priorities.

Voters are confused after they repeatedly voted for the then Maoist Hasiya Hammer and have entered the election fray with different election symbols and parties. Bhandari had won the first Constituent Assembly member election in 2064. The remaining three played a role in Bhandari's victory.

They say that the armed war that lasted from 2052 to 2063 brought about a major change in the country's political structure. The Maoists had emerged as the country's main political force through the peace process. Political analysts here say that the then Maoists were weakened due to internal disputes, conflicts between the leadership, imbalance in thought and practice, and power-oriented tendencies.

This time, Gyan Bahadur Shahi of the RPP, who won in 2079, has become a candidate again in the district. Deep Bahadur Shahi of the Congress and Shantilal Mahat of the UML are also in the election fray. Vinita Kathayat from the National Independent Party is trying to woo voters.
