Ujjaya Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising has embarked on an election campaign from Thursday via the Kamala Bridge connecting Siraha and Dhanusha. Ghising, the outgoing Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development, crossed the river from a temporary traffic arrangement made by laying a hume pipe in the river area and headed towards Siraha.

Party leaders, cadres and locals welcomed him at the Kamala Bridge. With the construction of a temporary diversion on the Kamala River on the Siraha-Dhanusha border along the Hulaki Highway, which is considered the lifeline of the Terai-Madhesh region, years of civil problems are coming to an end.

When the bridge was not built for 14 years, locals were forced to travel in risky ways, while vehicles were using long alternative routes. Ghising had inspected the Kamala Bridge on 5 Mangsir when he was the Minister of Physical Infrastructure.

After seeing the pain and risk faced by the locals due to the lack of a bridge, he directed the concerned bodies to install a hume pipe in the river area to solve the problem and proceeded with the process of constructing a temporary diversion. Ghising expressed happiness that despite the temporary arrangement, the Kamala River could be crossed.

He also inspected the remaining work on the 469-meter-long Kamala Bridge, which has been under construction for 14 years. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet party candidates, workers and voters from Dhanusha, Siraha and Saptari districts.
