As the election date approaches, the Election Commission has begun cracking down on everything from code of conduct violations to misleading information.
Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai claimed that the commission will work on violations of the code of conduct and misleading information in the coming days. He said that the commission is preparing to monitor misleading information coming from social media and the media and take election action.
The work of making candidates commit to following the code of conduct has begun in various districts by holding discussions with them, and after that, action has been taken against those who violate it by asking for clarifications.
According to him, the Election Commission is grateful for the initiative shown in following the code of conduct by all sectors including government agencies, political parties, candidates, voters, and media personnel during this period.
Bhattarai mentioned that since the implementation of the code of conduct, 21 clarifications have been asked from political parties, candidates, and various organizations and 5 replies have been received. According to him, the remaining replies are being sought.
