This time, new candidates from various parties have emerged in the election fray in the district. The candidates who have entered the fray have claimed that their respective victories are certain.
It seems that there will be a competition between the candidates of the Congress, UML and the Nepali Communist Party in the House of Representatives elections on Falgun 21. New parties have challenged the traditional parties. In 2079 BS, the UML got 24,271 votes, the Congress got 18,672, and the then Maoist Center got 11,845 votes in the proportional representation. Similarly, the CPN-UML got 3,363 votes, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal got 2,248 votes, and the National Independent Party got 1,255 votes.
Examining the current situation, Nepal Bar Association District Secretary Advocate Om Prakash Ghimire said that there will be a three-way competition in the district. ‘It seems that there will be a three-way competition between the candidates of the Congress, UML and the CPN in Khotang,’ he said, ‘This time, the difference between victory and defeat will be small.’

Bhattarai had received 28,672 votes. Bhattarai claims that UML's victory is certain even if they contest the elections alone.
Congress candidate Birkaji Rai also claims that he will win. He says that since the Congress has entered the elections unitedly, he will win. Congress District Vice President Ivan Rai said that the current situation cannot be said to be the same regardless of the vote share because the parties had formed alliances before. ‘Looking at the current situation, a tripartite election competition is visible,’ he said, ‘Victory/defeat also depends on how many votes the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sansthan Party and the Shram Sanskriti Party attract.’
Nepali Communist Party candidate Dr. Hari Roka is a scholar, capable person who can guide the country, so the victory was assured after the intellectual community of the district united after his candidacy, said NCP central member Rajan Rai.
