What you should know

Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday merged the Chure Bhawar Party into the NCP. With this, there are 22 parties to be merged into the NCP.

In the run-up to the House of Representatives elections, he is integrating parties, groups or individuals in Nepal on a daily basis. On Tuesday alone, he has admitted four groups including the Chure Bhawar Party, the CPN (Maoist), and the Revolutionary Communist Party into the CPN.

Coordinator Dahal has claimed that the incorporation of small parties and groups into the CPN formed after the merger with the Maoist Center, the CPN Unified Socialist, and the Nepal Socialist (Mahindra Yadav) is a ‘need of the country’.

There is competition between new and old parties in this election. There is traditional competition between the old parties Nepali, Congress, UML, CPN, and Madhesh-centric parties in Madhesh Province. After the ‘entry’ of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah into the National Independent Party that emerged in the last general election, this party has entered into a tough competition against the old parties. Gagan Thapa has transformed the Nepali Congress into a new form under his leadership and brought it into the field as a major competitor. One of these competitors, the NCP, is allowing small parties, individuals and groups to enter.

The NCP coordinator, who is joining the crowd of new and old parties, has adopted a strategy to protect his legacy by allowing small parties, groups and individuals to enter. The NCP (former Maoist), which came in third in the 2079 elections, is continuing the unity process with small parties without holding political and ideological discussions by adopting the policy of 'filling the pot with water drop by drop'.

On Tuesday, Dahal claimed that the unity process has spread a message across the country.

'You have joined this unity and polarization process by realizing the voice of history, the needs of the country and the need for the movement. Your unity process has once again spread a message across the country,' he said. 'I would like to express my belief that the remaining leftists, patriots and communists will also join this polarization process again.' He claimed that the unity process will build national power.

‘I would like to appeal to everyone to build national strength, to build the power of national unity, and to stop the various maneuvers of foreign reactionaries and make this country independent, independent and prosperous,’ he said. ‘For this change, women, Dalits, indigenous peoples, Muslims, Madhesis, Tharus have all gained recognition and rights in Nepal. Constitutionally and in practice, we are the main leaders of that movement here.’ To strengthen it, the unity of patriots and leftists is also necessary to further amend the constitution.'
