According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Timilsina of the Congress secured victory by securing 5,033 votes. He defeated his main rival Kapil Lama of the NCP by a huge margin of 4,092 votes. Lama received a total of 941 votes. Timilsina of Tanahun, who resigned from the Teachers' Association close to the Congress and became a candidate, was given a ticket by the then President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Devkota of the UML, who won in the women's cluster, secured 5,014 votes. Her nearest rival, Goma Luintel Ghimire of the NCP, secured 941 votes. In both categories, the candidates of the National Janamorcha, Shankar Prasad Baral and Laxmi Baskota, secured equal 76-76 votes.
In Gandaki, which has a total of 228 voters, 5 people did not participate in the voting process. Two RPP MPs Pancharam Gurung and Bindu Poudel boycotted the election. Three local level people's representatives - Waling Deputy Mayor Kabita Tiwari, Narpabhumi Chairman Konjo Tenzing Lama, and Dhorpatan Mayor Dev Kumar Nepali, who is in custody in a cooperative fraud case, remained absent.
