Three years ago, neighbors from the same ward, who had become candidates for the federal and provincial elections from the same party, are now competing with each other from different parties. In the 2079 parliamentary elections, two people from the same ward had become candidates from the Nepali Congress. Now, the elections here have become interesting after three people from the same ward became competitors from different parties in Kapilvastu-3.

Three years ago, Abhishek Pratap Shah was a candidate for the House of Representatives from the Congress. Kapilvastu-3 (2) fielded Birendra Kumar Kanodia as a candidate for the Provincial Assembly. Both were defeated. Ehsan Ahmed Khan of the Maoist Center, who was a candidate from Kapilvastu 3 (1), came fourth.

All three are residents of Krishnanagar-2. All three have houses within a kilometer of each other. All three are 'heavyweight' candidates in Kapilvastu. Locals say, 'One of these three is sure to become an MP.'

Shah and Kanodia have been associated with the Congress for a long time. The Shah family has been associated with the Congress since before 2015. In 2015, Abhishek's grandfather Shiva Pratap won the election and became a minister. Abhishek, who entered politics in 2063, joined the Congress in 2074. Kanodia, who has been affiliated with the Nepali Sangh since the student movement of 2036, has changed parties this time.

Kanodia joined the UML on Magh 3 and became a candidate. Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and Girija Prasad Koirala have visited his house in Krishnanagar Bazaar in Kanodia several times. Ehsan, who contested from Kapilvastu-3 on the Bahujan Shakti Party in 2074 BS, also joined the then Maoist in 2076 BS.

43-year-old Shah says he has filed his candidacy because he understands the feelings and aspirations of the youth and can work. He said he contested the election with a plan to make the youth employed and enterprising. He was first nominated as a member of the House of Representatives in 2063 BS. After the death of his father Ajay Pratap, who was elected from the RPP, Girija Prasad Koirala nominated Abhishek as an MP. He was elected to the Constituent Assembly from the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum in 2064 and 2070.

He was elected from the Congress in 2074. In 2064, he became the youngest member of the Constituent Assembly in the country. At that time, he was 25 years and 3 months old. In 2074, he joined the Congress and became an invited central member. Before joining the Congress, he was the Joint General Secretary of the Forum.

Kanodia, 66, who entered student politics from the Nepali Sangh in 2036, says he has a plan to make the youth self-employed and self-reliant. Stating that the country's lack of economic policy and planning has prevented him from working, he said that he will implement youth-targeted programs if he wins the election. After the multi-party restoration, which was not seen as active during the Panchayat period due to the ban, he became openly active in the Congress. In the 2048 local elections, he was elected as the then District Development Committee Vice-Chairman from the Congress. In the 2056 House of Representatives elections, he won from Kapilvastu-3. At that time, Bishnu Raj Acharya had snatched the ticket that had been announced and became a candidate from the Nepali Congress. In 2058, when Sher Bahadur Deuba was the Prime Minister, he became the Minister of State for Water Resources. In the 2064 Constituent Assembly election, he was defeated as a candidate from Kapilvastu-4. In the 2070 Constituent Assembly election, he changed his constituency and became a candidate from Kapilvastu-5, but did not win. In 2074, he was elected as a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly from Kapilvastu 3 (2). He played a long role as the leader of the main opposition party in the Provincial Assembly. He played a role in toppling the government of the then Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel. This time, Pokharel himself rolled out the red carpet for Kanodia in the party.

62-year-old Ehsan Ahmad Khan, a resident of Krishnanagar Bazaar, has been busy campaigning this time too. He said that he started politics from a young age and will work according to the dreams and desires of the youth. This time, he was defeated in Lumbini Province Assembly 3 (1) in 2079. In 2074, he was a candidate for the House of Representatives from Bahujan Shakti in Kapilvastu-3. After suffering defeat at that time, he started looking for another party to wear the garland of victory. In 2076, he joined the CPN-Maoist. He has been a central advisor since joining the Maoists and is still in the same position. He said that the main problems of the district are illiteracy and poverty.

Therefore, he said that establishing a technical campus that provides quality education is his first goal. According to him, employment cannot be created without an agricultural revolution. The foreign travel of the youth will not be stopped. Therefore, he said that he will apply all his capabilities, strength and plans to modernize agriculture and make it professional. He said that since the aim of other parties was only to gain power, he joined the Maoists and served the people.
