UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has said that he is concerned about Chairman KP Sharma Oli's public opinion.

Bhattarai expressed his disagreement with some aspects of the interview conducted by Kantipur with Oli, who is the chairman and candidate for Jhapa-5 in the upcoming House of Representatives elections. In an interview published in Kantipur on Sunday, Oli had said, 'Surendra Pandey and Yogesh Bhattarai are not in a position to win this time. Binda Pandey has no basis. ... Gokulji has brought a little more division in the cadres. The cadres there were united yesterday, did he create an awkward situation when he divided them a little today?' Bhattarai has expressed his opinion on the same issue on social media Facebook. 'Many media persons have been calling me and asking for my response on this issue. I do not want to have a public debate on internal party issues till Falgun 21. My mission is the sun symbol and the CPN-UML,' he said. 'All I can say is that I am worried and saddened by the chairman's words. I don't believe that anyone would have taken a ticket with a written document guaranteeing victory.'

Bhattarai, who had been winning the election from Taplejung, did not get a ticket this time. UML has fielded Kshitij Thebe as its candidate in that constituency. Thebe is the central president of the National Youth Association. Bhattarai had registered a 'note of dissent' at the party office, expressing disagreement with the direct distribution of tickets to the House of Representatives.
