Manang Chief Election Officer Ram Prasad Poudel said that UML candidate Polden Chhopang Gurung and RPP's Kubir Singh Gurung have filed applications to withdraw their candidacies.
The candidates of the UML and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) who had filed their candidacies in Manang for the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21 have withdrawn their candidacies.
Manang Chief Election Officer Ram Prasad Poudel said that UML candidate Polden Chhopang Gurung and RPP candidate Kubir Singh Gurung have filed applications to withdraw their candidacies. According to the election schedule, the deadline for withdrawal of candidacies is 1 pm on Friday.
‘The NCP-UML candidate and the RPP candidate have filed applications to withdraw their candidacies. The deadline for withdrawal of candidacies is 1 pm today,’ he said, ‘No decision has been made yet. We will decide only after 1 pm.’
Out of the five candidates in Manang, if it is decided to withdraw the candidacies of two, the candidacies of three will be upheld. So far, Congress candidate Tek Bahadur Gurung, Nepali Communist Party’s Yashoda Gurung (Subedi) and Mongol National Organization’s Ram Bahadur Ghale have filed their nominations, informed Assistant Election Officer Deepak Dahal.
