In Sindhuli-2, too, the faction of leader Haribol Gajurel, who was a supporter, has rebelled after Nepali Communist Party leader Maheshwor Dahal filed his candidacy against the official candidate.
The Gajurel faction rebelled after the NCP made former MP Lekhnath Dahal the official candidate from Sindhuli-2. Gajurel has said that he rebelled against the instructions of the party coordinator, saying that Dahal should not be withdrawn from the candidacy. ‘This is a rebellion within the party,’ he said, ‘a rebellion against the rules and procedures.’
Official candidate Lekhnath was recommended from Sindhuli-1. ‘How was Lekhnath given a ticket without a recommendation?’ Gajurel questions.
Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal had given special instructions to withdraw Maheshwor’s candidacy and support the NCP’s official candidate Lekhnath. ‘Since it has been confirmed that you, as a proposer, assisted in the unauthorized registration of nomination papers by central member Comrade Maheshwar Dahal against the party decision, you have been issued a special instruction by the party central office to immediately return the unauthorized nomination papers and implement the party’s decision by supporting and assisting the official candidate of the party,’ the instruction states.
But Gajurel said that since coordinator Dahal violated the rules and procedures, he should be held responsible. ‘The one who violated the rules and procedures. He should be held accountable,’ he said, ‘We have made Maheshwar Dahal a candidate according to the candidate recommendation rules and procedures.’
Maheshwar, a rebel candidate in the NCP of Sindhuli-2, had said that he would not accept the ‘authority order.’
‘I was one of those recommended by the district task force. Lekhnath was recommended from Constituency No. 1 but was given a ticket from Constituency No. 2 by the Hukumi Pramangi,' Maheshwar had said, 'We do not accept the Hukumi system. The District Party Committee does not accept it. Why should we accept the Center's arbitrariness?' Lekhnath had won from Dhading-2 in the 2079 elections.
