Forty-nine candidates have withdrawn their names from the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the number of candidates who withdrew their names from the candidacy has reached 49 as of 2 pm on Friday. The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy has been set for 5 pm on Friday.
Elections are being held for 110 proportional and 165 direct seats of the House of Representatives on 21 Falgun. Of these, the parties submitted the closed lists for proportional on 13 and 14 Poush. On 6 Magh, candidates were nominated for direct candidacy across the country, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidacy has been set for Friday.
So far, 49 people, including former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, have withdrawn their candidacies.
