A complaint has been filed with the Election Commission against five people who have filed candidacies for the House of Representatives directly. The complaint has been filed with the office of the concerned election officer, demanding that their candidacies be cancelled. Information about this has also been sent to the Election Commission, Kathmandu.

The complaints were filed with the election office claiming that corruption cases were pending against the candidates, that they had been convicted by the Supreme Court, that they had not received a pay slip from a government agency, and that there were discrepancies in their citizenship details. According to the schedule for the House of Representatives election to be held on 21 Falgun, the deadline for registering candidacy nominations was 6th Magh. The deadline for filing complaints against registered candidates was 7th Magh.

A complaint has been filed against Nepali Communist Party co-coordinator and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. The complaint was filed because the case filed against Nepal by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority in the Special Court, accusing him of corruption in Patanjali's land, is pending. The complaint against him, demanding the cancellation of his candidacy nomination papers, was not registered. Chief Election Officer Manoj KC said that the complaint against Nepal has been filed.

'A complaint was filed demanding the cancellation of his candidacy, saying that the case of corruption in Patanjali's land is pending. I have filed the complaint and filed it with the reasons behind it,' KC said. KC claims that the complaint was filed on the grounds that there is a legal principle that a person cannot be found guilty in a corruption case because the case is pending.

A complaint has also been filed against Resham Lal Chaudhary, the candidate for Kailali-1 from the Civil Liberation Party, Nepal. He was convicted by the Supreme Court in the Tikapur murder case. However, he was pardoned and released by the President. The complaint demands that Chaudhary's nomination be canceled.

'As per Section 16 of the Election Guidelines for Members of the House of Representatives, 2082 (d), a person who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for any offence and such a judgment has become final shall not be eligible to be a candidate,' the complaint reads, 'Resham Lal Chaudhary, who had registered his nomination paper on behalf of the Civil Liberation Party Nepal under Registration No. 1, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court on 2 Jestha 2080 and the case has become final, so his nomination paper should be canceled and canceled.'

Complaints have also been filed against two candidates from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A complaint has been registered against Rajiv Khatri, who is a candidate from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Bhaktapur-2. It has been claimed that Nepal Scout owes 95,000 rupees in unpaid money against Khatri. A complaint has also been filed against Januka Pathak, a candidate from the Nepal Janasewa Party in Bhaktapur-2, claiming that there are different details in the citizenship copy. Election Officer Radhika Suwal said that an investigation will be conducted on the complaints against both of them on Thursday.

Suwal said that both parties have been summoned to inquire about the complaint and the candidates against whom the complaint was filed have also been informed to appear with evidence. A complaint has also been filed against Lal Bikram Thapa, a candidate from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Sunsari-2.

According to Sunsari-2 Election Officer Rajendra Kumar Lamsal, a complaint has been received alleging that Thapa has a business with Janata Secondary School and that he has unpaid money while working through a personal company. Informing that complaints have been filed against five candidates, Election Commission Information Officer Suman Ghimire said that a decision on the complaints is scheduled to be made by 5 pm on Thursday.

Two candidates from the same party

Two candidates have filed their candidacies from the Nepali Congress in Nawalparasi-2. Devendra Raj Kandel and Bhim Bahadur Thapa have filed their candidacies with the party's official letter.

In Sarlahi-4, the UML has filed their candidacies after sending letters to two people. UML had earlier given a ticket to Ravi Shankar Kushwaha. Later, it was found that Amanish Kumar Yadav was also given a ticket. A similar problem has been seen in the Nepali Communist Party in Sindhuli-2.

Rajan Dahal and Maheshwar Dahal have filed their candidacies with the party's official letter. There are two candidates from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Kailali-4. There, Hari Prasad Regmi and Khemraj Koirala have filed their nominations after submitting their party's letters.

The concerned election officer will take a decision on the matter after examining the candidacies, said Yagya Bhattarai, head of the commission's legal division.

The software designed for the registration of candidacy has a provision that only one candidate from a party can be registered. Accordingly, the name of the person who came first has been registered in the software. And, the nomination papers of the candidates who came later with the party's letter have been registered 'manually' in the office of the election officer. The commission has directed the election officers to take the necessary decision after checking whether the application has been submitted in the prescribed manner and seeking information from the concerned party. There is no clear provision in this regard in the House of Representatives Election Act.
