Candidates from Congress, UML, CPN, RSVP, RPP, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN-Maoist (Biplav), Miteri Party and NEMKIPA are in the fray.
Nine candidates have registered their candidacies from Doti for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21.
Assistant Election Officer Gambhir Rana Magar said that candidates from 9 parties have registered their candidacies from Doti, which has only one House of Representatives constituency.
According to Election Officer Rana, Bharat Bahadur Khadka has registered his candidacy on behalf of the Nepali Congress.
Khadka, a member of the Provincial Assembly elected from Province No. (A) in 2074, is a proportional representation MP elected in 2070 BS. He was elected as a central member in the recently concluded special general convention of the Nepali Congress.
Similarly, Deepak Dhami has registered his candidacy on behalf of the CPN-UML. Dhami is the central president of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU), which is close to the UML. He is contesting the election for the first time.
Former Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Trilochan Bhatta, has registered his candidacy on behalf of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP). He was elected from the Maoist Center from the Doti Provincial Assembly Constituency (B) during the 2074 BS election when the UML-Maoist alliance was formed. Bhatta served as the Chief Minister of the Far Western Province for five consecutive years.
Narendra Bahadur Khadka has filed his candidacy from the National Independent Party. Khadka, who is also the former president of the Doti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, contested the 2079 BS election as an independent candidate for the House of Representatives. At that time, he was defeated by the then CPN-UML candidate Prem Bahadur Ale Magar.
Manoj Bhatta has filed his candidacy from the Rastriya Janamorcha. Bhatta is the central general secretary of the Janamorcha.
Khadak Agrawal has filed his candidacy from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Agrawal, who has a business background, is contesting elections from Doti for the first time.
Similarly, Prakash Kathayat has registered his candidacy on behalf of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN-Maoist. Kathayat is a member of the Akhil (Socialist) Central Secretariat and Doti District In-charge. He is also a member of the party's District Secretariat.
Saraswati Kumari Pal Malla has registered her candidacy on behalf of the Miteri Party Nepal.
Khagendra Bahadur Shahi has registered his candidacy on behalf of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, said Election Officer Gambhir Rana Magar.
