Deuba's side had gone to the Supreme Court after the working committee led by Gagan Kumar Thapa, elected at the Congress special general convention, was given official status.
The writ petition filed by Nepali Congress' outgoing president Sher Bahadur Deuba and acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka against the Election Commission's decision has been scheduled for hearing in the bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel.
The writ filed after the Commission gave legitimacy to the working committee led by Gagan Kumar Thapa elected from the special general convention will be heard in a single bench of Justice Pokharel on Tuesday. This writ has been placed in the 'N' number of the bench.
The Commission had recognized the working committee elected from the special general convention led by Thapa.
On Sunday, Wares Shravan Kumar Shrestha filed a writ on behalf of Sher Bahadur Deuba and Purna Bahadur Khadka. Khadka demanded that the writ be filed on the same day and the hearing should be held on the same day. However, the administration replied that the demand was not in accordance with the law.
In the writ, the Deuba faction has made the first demand to dissolve the working committee, calling the special general convention illegal.
Similarly, the date for nomination registration for the elections to be held on Falgun 21 has been fixed today. If the nomination has already been made, Congress leaders are also demanding that the Supreme Court postpone it and announce another nomination date.
