Nominations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections have been registered in an enthusiastic and peaceful manner in all 10 constituencies in Kathmandu, including constituencies across the country.

The Election Commission had fixed the time from 10 am to 5 pm on Tuesday for the registration of candidacies for the first-past-the-post (direct) election for the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21.

According to the Election Commission, 2,335 candidates have registered their nomination papers for 275 seats from political parties and independents as of 5 pm. Candidates who have already entered the premises of the Election Officer can register after 5 pm. Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that the Commission will hold a press conference at 5:30 pm today to inform about the overall status of the nomination papers.

According to Kathmandu Chief Election Officer Churaman Khadka, nomination papers have been registered enthusiastically and peacefully in all 10 constituencies. He informed that there were equal candidacies from political parties as well as independents.

Shanti Neupane, Election Officer of Kathmandu Constituency No. 2 in Thali, informed that the candidacy nominations were registered systematically and said that security arrangements were also easy as only a maximum of five people were allowed inside the officer's office along with the candidate to register. Chamila Bhattarai, Election Officer of Kathmandu Constituency No. 3 in Gokarna, informed that although 1,500 people submitted forms for candidacy registration, only 15 candidates had registered their candidacies by 4:30 pm.
