Shishir Khanal has filed his candidacy from the National Independent Party in the Kathmandu-6 constituency of the House of Representatives. Khanal filed his candidacy on Tuesday after reaching the office of the Returning Officer.
Former minister and outgoing MP Khanal's candidacy is being proposed by young female entrepreneur Shaileja Kasaju of ASAN and supported by injured Abhishek Thapa of the Gen-G movement.
After registering his candidacy, Khanal said, 'Today, the proposers and supporters of my candidacy are the carriers of change. We will not let the blood shed by Abhishekji on the streets and the courage shown by Shailejaji through entrepreneurship go to waste. The National Independent Party is now ready to take the country forward under the leadership of Balen Shah. We will start a new chapter for the country from Kathmandu-6.'
Khanal said that the people of Kathmandu-6 have honestly fulfilled the responsibility entrusted to them in the previous election. Khanal has expressed his commitment to remain active for education, good governance and overall development of this region.
