Independent candidate after not getting ticket

Two people from Udayapur have filed their candidacies as independent candidates after the party did not provide them with tickets in the upcoming election for the post of member of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21.

Dr. Devraj Roka (Kalyan) and Major Rai (Mijas) of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) have filed their candidacies independently from Udayapur constituency no. 1 and constituency no. 2, respectively, after rebelling from the CPN-UML. Roka, who is also the former executive vice-chairman of the Youth Self-Employment Fund, is also an economist. He had expected a ticket from UML, but after the party gave a ticket to Durga Kumar Thapa (Swasti), who is also the former mayor of Belka Municipality, he filed his candidacy independently. He said that he entered the election fray by filing his candidacy independently after the party disrespected his passion, hard work and expertise.

Similarly, he said that Limchungbung Rural Municipality Chairman Major Rai, who wanted to contest the election in Udayapur constituency no. 2, filed his candidacy independently after the party did not give him a ticket. He said that even though he had been waiting for the party ticket till the last moment, he resigned from the post of rural municipality chairman and filed an independent candidacy after the NCP gave the ticket to Suresh Kumar Rai (Himal). He said that even if the party does not give him a ticket, the voters of Udayapur Constituency No. 2 will judge him.
