Former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Kul Prasad KC has filed an independent candidacy for the House of Representatives from Dang Constituency No. 1. NCP leader KC filed an independent candidacy after not receiving a ticket from the party.
He was elected as a provincial MP from Rolpa 1 (1) with 18,512 votes from the Maoist Center in 2074 BS and became the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province.
KC became the second Chief Minister after UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, who was the founding Chief Minister, fell into a minority. Pokhrel was the Chief Minister from 2074 BS to 27 August 2078 BS, while KC was the Chief Minister from 28 August 2078 BS to 27 Poush 2079 BS.
He filed his candidacy independently after the party nominated Metmani Chaudhary as its candidate. He had also tried to collaborate with the UML. After no agreement was reached even at the last minute, he filed his candidacy alone. Chaudhary was elected from the same constituency in 2079 BS. Chaudhary was elected from the alliance of the Maoist Center, Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist).
