Twelve people, including Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, have registered their nominations in Rukum East, and 12 people, including Janardan Sharma of the Progressive Democratic Party, have registered their nominations in Rukum West.
Twelve people each have registered their nominations for the House of Representatives elections in Rukum East and West. 24 candidates have registered from the two districts, representing various parties and independents.
In Rukum East, which has a single constituency, 12 people, including Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, have filed nominations. According to Assistant Election Officer Ishwori Prasad Subedi, Kusumdevi Thapa Magar from Nepali Congress, Leelamani Gautam from CPN-UML, Lakhan Kumar Thapa from Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Sandeep Pun from Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party have filed nominations.
Similarly, Jyoti Roka Magar from Mongol National Organization, Dharma Kumar Budha from Neslon Republic Nepal, Shir Bahadur Budha from Janata Samajwadi Party, Rosha Shah from RPP, Juddha Bahadur Budha Magar and Amar Singh Pun from CPN-Maoist have filed nominations as independent candidates.
Similarly, a total of 12 people have filed nominations from Rukum West. Janardan Sharma, who has been winning all elections from this constituency since 2006 after the then CPN-Maoist Center merged with other parties to form the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has registered his candidacy from the new party Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party and Gopal Sharma from the CPN, while Raju KC from the Nepali Congress and Nandaram Devkota from the CPN-UML have registered their candidacies, said Assistant Election Officer Mandira Shahi.
Similarly, according to Shahi, other candidates include Man Bahadur Shahi from the National Independent Party, Gopal Khadka from the RPP, Chandra Bahadur Budha from the CPN-Maoist, Dhan Bahadur BK from the NEMKIPA, Narendra KC from the Ujjaya Nepal Party, Prema Damai Nepali from the Aam Janata Party, Sher Bahadur KC from the CPN United and Satyanarayan Shrestha from the Rastriya Janamorcha.
The time for objections to the candidates has been fixed from 10 am to 3 pm on Magh 7, while after the investigation into the complaint, the list of candidates will be published from 5 pm to 7 pm on Magh 8. The time for withdrawal of candidacy has been fixed from 10 am to 1 pm on Magh 9, while the final list of candidates will be published and election symbols will be given by 3 pm on the same day.
