The main reason for UML taking such an unexpected decision in Achham-1 is considered to be the 'Bhim Rawal factor'. Nepali Communist Party candidate Rawal is seen as the 'heavyweight' leader of Achham. UML has come under pressure after Rawal, who has established a strong hold at the local level, entered the fray.

The electoral politics of Achham has once again reached a dramatic turn. The election campaign here has become more interesting with the CPN-UML withdrawing its own candidate from Achham-1 at the last minute and fielding Deepak Saud, the Far West Chairman of the newly-announced Progressive Democratic Party, as its candidate from the Sun symbol.
UML had fielded central member Jhapat Bohra as its candidate only on Saturday evening. But within a few hours, that decision was reversed. Bohra's ticket was eventually cut and Deepak Saud, an influential leader of the then Maoist Center, became the UML candidate. There is talk that Saud was given the ticket based on the mathematical calculation of the support he had from Ramaroshan of Achham, which was considered the base area of the then rebel Maoists.
In the 2079 House of Representatives elections, UML Chairman Oli had fielded Bohra as a candidate at the last minute even when UML had recommended Bhim Rawal's name as a single candidate from Achham-1. But now, the ticket given to Bohra at the last minute has been given to Saud. Saud, who was also a central member of the then Maoists, is one of the old leaders of Achham.
The 'Bhim Rawal factor' is considered to be the main reason for UML's unexpected decision in Achham-1. Nepali Communist Party candidate Rawal is seen as the 'heavyweight' leader of Achham. UML has come under pressure after Rawal, who has a strong hold at the local level, entered the fray.
According to a leader of UML Achham, the party is currently trailing by about 6,000 votes in Achham-1. 'The Congress has not yet finalized its candidate. After Bhim Rawal entered the fray, it was necessary to field a candidate who could draw votes,' the leader said, 'Not because of fear of Rawal, UML is currently trailing by about 6,000 votes in Achham-1. To cover those votes, Saud had to be fielded.'
In the 2070 BS Constituent Assembly elections, Rawal from UML and Saud from Maoists were face to face. But now the situation has reversed. Saud, who previously contested as a candidate from the Maoists, is now a candidate from the UML, and Rawal, who previously contested the election from the UML, is a candidate from the Nepali Communist Party.
