Oli's comment: Election security still unsatisfactory

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the election security in the upcoming elections is still not satisfactory. Oli, who arrived in Jhapa on Monday to nominate his candidacy for the House of Representatives from Jhapa-5, expressed this view while talking to journalists at Chandragadhi Airport.

‘Election security is not satisfactory,’ Oli responded briefly.

Jhapa-5 is Oli’s traditional constituency. Hundreds of voters, leaders, activists and supporters were present at Chandragadhi Airport to welcome Oli, who arrived in Jhapa to file his candidacy. Supporters chanted slogans like ‘KP Ba, we love you’, while some supporters were seen holding maps of Chukche in the airport premises.

Meanwhile, Oli did not respond to media inquiries about the possible candidacy of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Sah (Balen). Oli’s silence has been seen as meaningful in political circles as Ballen is preparing to contest the House of Representatives elections from Jhapa-5.

The arrival of UML Chairman Oli and Ballen in Jhapa on the same day has further heated up the election atmosphere in Jhapa-5. This time, the election in this constituency is being seen as a competition between old political continuity and new political options.
