Eight candidates, including independents, are set to contest the election in Dolpa, which has the only House of Representatives constituency.
Nepali Communist Party leader Omendra KC has announced his candidacy for the Dolpa elections in the Himalayan district. He was also a member of the provincial committee of the then CPN-Maoist Center and announced his candidacy on social media on Monday.
'Today's Nepali politics is in a phase of change. After the Genji movement, the people have openly said that now we need not the old party-based, faction-based and self-centered politics, but a politics that rises above the party, is accountable to the people and honest. Our politics is not for power and position but for service,' he wrote on his Facebook wall.
Eight candidates have entered the election in Dolpa, which has the only House of Representatives constituency, of which Dhan Bahadur Budha from the NCP, Lanka Bahadur Rokaya from the UML, Karna Budha from the Congress, Dil Bahadur Bista from the Ujjaya Nepal Party, Bikash Budha from the Progressive Democratic Party, Dev Singh Aidi from the Rashtriya Swatantra Party and Omendra KC from the Independent are contesting the election.
