The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has nominated Ram Bahadur Bhandari, known as the 'living martyr', as a candidate for the House of Representatives in Dhading Constituency No. 2.
Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal handed over the official ticket to Bhandari on Sunday.
Bhandari, who suffered great family and personal losses during the Maoist People's War, is known as a 'renunciated leader' in Dhading. He is also a central member of the former CPN-Maoist Center and a wounded person in the People's War.
Bhandari's two sons were disappeared by the state during the 10-year armed conflict, which has not been made public yet. Due to the sacrifice of his sons and the fact that he bore the wounds of war on his own body, he has been given the title of 'living martyr' within the party and at the local level.
With Bhandari's arrival in Dhading-2, the election excitement has increased. Bhandari, who is considered popular and simple-minded at the local level, is also seen as a strong competitor by candidates from other political parties.
