Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has fielded Dharmananda Joshi as a candidate for the House of Representatives from Darchula. Congress President Thapa has given Joshi a ticket for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives on Falgun 21.
Joshi said that President Thapa had given him the ticket and that he was going to the constituency from Kathmandu.
After Congress leader Dilendra Prasad Badu announced that he would not contest the House of Representatives election, the names of four people from the district were recommended to the party's central office on Sunday.
The district working committee had recommended leader Badu's single name in the last week of Mangsir. Badu had announced that he would not contest the election on Poush 22. On Sunday, along with Joshi, former Malikarjun Rural Municipality President Narendra Singh Dhami, former Nevisangh President Ganesh Raj Bhatta and former party district secretary Haraksih Bista were recommended, said Congress district president Lalit Singh Bohara.
President Thapa has made Joshi, who has experience working in bodies under the United Nations, the candidate for Darchula. Joshi said that he has experience playing a role in various political missions of the United Nations, human rights, law and conflict management. He said that he resigned from the United Nations and came to contest the election.
Joshi said that along with the development of the constituency, he will play a role in the field of good governance along with the formulation of laws in the country.
