Dhiraj Joshi, assistant child specialist to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah, is contesting from Kanchanpur Constituency No. 3.

He told Kantipur that he started his election campaign after deciding to contest from the National Independent Party (NISP). Recently, Joshi was also the personal secretary of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

A team led by Joshi in the metropolis had rescued a minor girl from the house of CPN-UML's Lumbini Province MP Rekha Sharma. At the same time, the metropolis had rescued 83 children at risk from Kathmandu.

Having worked in Balendra's secretariat, he also participated in the discussions with Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel at the Nepal Army's military base after the Gen-G movement.

Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had won from this constituency in the 2079 election. Lekhak won by getting 30,575 votes, while UML candidate Nirudevi Pal had got 18,485 votes. NISP candidate Krishna Luhar got 2,021 votes.
