Purna Bahadur Khadka, acting president of the Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress, has claimed that the justification for the petition demanding a special general convention on the same day as the regular general convention has been exhausted.
He said that the party has moved towards a regular general convention after the Central Working Committee decided with the consent and participation of those in favor of demanding a special general convention.
Drawing the attention of the Election Commission on Friday, Khadka said, "The party's Central Working Committee meeting had fixed the date for the regular general convention from its meeting on Mangsir 15. We had fixed the date for the general convention after discussing the petition demanding a special general convention there. Therefore, I inform the Election Commission that the justification for the demand for a special general convention ended on the same day the date for the regular general convention was fixed."
He said that according to the party's statute, there is a provision that the term can be extended for one year even after the term is completed. Khadka submitted the party's decisions and documents to the commission and demanded that a decision be made based on the party's statute, constitution and laws, as well as precedents of decisions made by the commission in the past.
